What is the difference between a clean and strip disc and a grinding disc?

A grinding disc cuts into the metal and removes stock. A clean and strip disc uses an open, non-woven structure that lifts the coating while leaving the surface underneath largely intact, which makes it the right choice before welding on painted or corroded steel.
