When should a hard hat harness be replaced?
Whenever it is cracked, frayed, sweat-hardened or no longer adjusts cleanly — the harness is the part that actually absorbs impact, and it degrades faster than the shell. Swapping a worn harness is far cheaper than a new lid and restores the fit that makes the rating meaningful.
