Sub Arc
Products
Submerged arc consumables for mechanised, high-deposition welding — CIGWELD ESAB Weld EM12K wire in multiple diameters, ESAB Weld FB-55 and AB-68 fluxes in bags and big bags, Lincoln 780 flux by the 250kg drum and Hyundai M12K wire. Sub arc is the process for long seams: beam lines, tank shells, pressure vessels and column-and-boom work where deposition rate and repeatability beat everything else.
What flux and wire combination should I run for submerged arc welding?
Treat wire and flux as one classified consumable, not two products — the flux chemistry sets the weld metal properties as much as the wire does. An EM12K wire under a neutral flux covers most carbon steel work; active fluxes suit single-pass welds over mill scale, while basic fluxes deliver the toughness multi-pass and code work demands. Keep flux dry and sieve recycled flux to remove slag and fines.
WeldCo supplies sub arc wire and flux in production quantities to Melbourne and Adelaide fabricators.
