Which aluminium TIG rod suits my alloy?
Run 5356 on 5xxx plate and wherever strength or post-weld anodising matters; run 4043 on castings and crack-sensitive 6xxx extrusions, where its silicon content improves flow and reduces hot cracking. 4047's higher silicon suits leak-tight repairs on castings and heat exchangers. Pick a rod diameter roughly matching material thickness to keep the pool controllable.
