Mild steel TIG rods from CIGWELD Comweld and Weldskill, UNIMIG Hypertig and Talweld — ER70S-2 triple deoxidised, ER70S-4 double deoxidised and ER70S-6 classifications in 1.6mm and 2.4mm cut lengths, mostly in 5kg tubes. Talweld INE low alloy rods extend the range into MnMo and nickel-bearing work.
What's the difference between ER70S-2 and ER70S-6 TIG rods?
ER70S-2 is triple deoxidised, so it tolerates mill scale and slightly imperfect prep, making it a favourite for pipe root runs. ER70S-6 carries more silicon and manganese, wets out better on clean steel and is the everyday choice for general fabrication. Strength is equivalent — prep condition and application decide between them.
