Cast Iron
Cast iron electrodes in 99% and 55% nickel — UNIMIG Hyperarc Ni 98 and Ni 55 plus CIGWELD Castcraft 100 for machinable repairs to iron castings.
Products
Cast iron electrodes in the two nickel chemistries that make old iron weldable — UNIMIG Hyperarc Ni 98 (99% nickel) and Ni 55, CIGWELD Castcraft 100 and nickel-iron sticks in 1kg and 5kg packs, plus CIGWELD Bronzecraft AC-DC for braze-repairs on cast components.
Should I use 99% or 55% nickel electrodes on cast iron?
Use 99% nickel for soft, machinable deposits on lighter sections and wherever the repair must be drilled or milled afterwards. Nickel-iron (55%) is stronger, tolerates higher dilution and suits thicker sections and joins to steel. Either way, technique decides the result: preheat gently, weld short runs, peen each bead and let the casting cool slowly.
WeldCo stocks cast iron repair electrodes at its Melbourne and Adelaide trade counters.
