Do I need an AC/DC TIG welder or just DC?
DC covers steel, stainless and copper alloys. Aluminium and magnesium need AC — the alternating polarity breaks up the surface oxide layer that DC can't penetrate. If aluminium is anywhere in your future, buy AC/DC once rather than buying twice.
