What should I check when sizing a pedestal drill?
- Drilling capacity: the maximum bit diameter in steel — 16mm suits general work, 20–32mm for heavier fabrication.
- Swing: twice the distance from column to spindle centre, which sets how wide a workpiece fits.
- Speed range: more speeds means better matching of RPM to bit diameter and material.
