Centre

Centre drills for lathe and machine work — 60 degree HSS bits in sizes No.1 to No.5, single or in Sutton five-piece sets.

Products

Centre drills cut the 60° countersunk centre hole that locates lathe work between centres, and double as precise hole-starters on the mill or drill press. The range spans gold-series centre drills from No.1 (1/8 inch) up to No.5 (7/16 inch), plus the Sutton D136 five-piece HSS set covering sizes 1 through 5.

What size centre drill do I need?

Match the centre drill to the workpiece: small numbers (1–2) for light shafts and pins, mid sizes (3–4) for general lathe work, and No.5 for heavy stock. The countersunk portion should seat the tailstock centre without the pilot hole bottoming out.

WeldCo supplies centre drills to machine shops around Melbourne and Adelaide.
