What should welders wear under a welding helmet?

A cotton skull cap or bandana — like the Xcelarc skull rag — soaks up sweat, keeps the headgear clean, and puts a flame-resistant layer between hot spatter and your scalp during out-of-position work. In winter, a snug beanie under the harness does the same job with warmth.
