What's the difference between brazing and welding?

Welding melts the parent metals and fuses them; brazing melts only the filler, which flows into the joint by capillary action above 450°C. That makes brazing the right call for dissimilar metals, thin sections and heat-sensitive assemblies — copper to brass, carbide tips to steel — with less distortion and no burn-through. Joint fit-up and cleanliness matter more than amps: a tight, clean gap is what draws the alloy through.
