Reamers

Reamers finish a drilled hole to accurate size and fine surface — the tool you reach for when a bolt needs a snug fit or a bush must press in true. How much material should a reamer remove?

Drill the hole 0.2–0.4mm under final size for hand reaming and let the reamer take the rest — asking a reamer to remove more than that loads the flutes, tears the finish and wears the tool. Turn clockwise only, in and out; backing off spoils the cutting edges.
