How do I match a TIG filler rod to the parent metal?

• Mild and low alloy steel — ER70S-2 or ER70S-6 for general work; move to a matching low alloy classification for chrome-moly piping.
• Stainless steel — match the grade: 308L for 304, 316L for 316, and 309L for dissimilar joints to carbon steel.
• Aluminium — 4043 for castings and 6xxx extrusions, 5356 for 5xxx plate and strength-critical joints.
